Lawyered along with Springhouse Co-working conducted an educational legal workshop for Startups on 29^th November 2018. The workshop was delivered by Mr. Madhavan Srivatsan with a view to educate the startups on the relevant laws and equip them with the know-how to better protect themselves.

While it is very important to have a strong focus on customers and the market, it is equally critical to have a good understanding about the basic laws, rules and regulations that are applicable for the smooth running of the business. Legal mistakes can doom even the best startup concepts and founding teams. Keeping this in mind, the following topics were discussed in the workshop:

• Forms of Incorporation
• Importance of protecting Intellectual Property
• Angel Tax
• ESOPS
• FDI Rules
• Legal Duties of employers

The workshop also talked about certain legal steps that startups can take to increase their valuation while trying to raise funds and how being compliant with the laws can help them to instill trust in the investors.
