1. What is a Music License Agreement?
A music license agreement is between someone who owns the rights to a piece of music, a song, or video and an organization or individual who wants to use the property for TV, a movie or advert, etc. Using original sound recordings in your own music such as samples, remixes, and background music also requires a license. This agreement defines terms and conditions, consideration, the extent of rights assigned, etc.
2. Why is it important?
a. This agreement protects the legal rights of the Licensor.
b. It gives exclusive rights to the Licensee to publish the content/work of the Licensor.
c. In case there is a breach of contract, the parties have all the rights reserved and can also claim a penalty.
