Guide on How to get a TAN Number Bansal

A Taxpayer Identification Number (TAN) is a unique identification code issued by the Indian Government to individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships who are liable to pay taxes. The TAN number is used to ensure that the right amount of taxes is deducted and deposited with the Indian Government. It is also used to identify taxpayers who are liable to pay taxes in India. In order to get a TAN Number, the taxpayer needs to apply for it with the Indian Income Tax Department. It is important to note that the TAN number is not the same as a Permanent Account Number (PAN). The TAN is used for deducting and depositing taxes, whereas the PAN is used for filing tax returns. The process for applying for a TAN Number is fairly simple and straightforward. Below are the steps for getting a TAN Number: Step 1: Fill up the TAN application form (Form 49B) The application form for getting a TAN Number is Form 49B. This form is available online, and can also be obtained from the local TIN-FC or PAN Centre. The form needs to be filled up carefully, and all the required details should be provided accurately. Step 2: Submit the application form Once the form has been filled, it should be submitted to the nearest TIN-FC or PAN Centre. The following documents should be attached along with the application form: Identity proof of the applicant Address proof of the applicant Self-attested passport size photograph Authorization letter (if applicable) Copy of PAN Card Step 3: Pay the application fee The application fee for getting a TAN Number is Rs. 65. The fee can be paid at the TIN-FC or PAN Centre, in cash or by cheque/demand draft. Step 4: Receive TAN Number Once the application form is submitted and the fee is paid, the TAN Number will be issued to the applicant. The TAN Number will be printed on the acknowledgement receipt. It is important to note that the TAN Number is not transferable and it cannot be reused. It is valid only for the specific taxpayer to whom it is issued. So, these are the steps for getting a TAN Number in India. It is important to ensure that all the required details are provided accurately, and the application form is submitted to the TIN-FC or PAN Centre. Once the TAN Number is issued, it should be kept safe as it is used for deducting and depositing taxes with the Indian Government.
