1. What is Form 49A?
Tax Department issues PAN Cards under Section 139A of the tax Act, 1961. Citizens of India and Indian citizens who are residing outside India can submit an application for allotment of PAN in Form 49A only. As per the principles, one, who has never applied for a PAN or doesn't have a PAN allotted to him, is allowed to use PAN Card Form 49A.
2. Why is Form 49 A used?
Form 49 A is used to obtain PAN which is a mandatory requirement for filing tax returns, paying taxes in India. PAN Card Form 49A is often filled in English only. In PAN Card Form 49A you're required to fill in your full name, gender, Date of Birth, details of oldsters, residential and office address, address for communication, details of oldsters, phone number and email id. Apart from these, one would like to refill the status of applicant, license number , Aadhaar number if you decide on a private category in PAN Card Form 49A.
