5 Signs Of Troublesome Contracts And Legal Documentation Lawyered

Legally binding and life changing, contracts and legal documentation are pieces of paper that have enormous hold over our lives. From job offers to website agreements, every professional service today comes attached with a contract!

But by using complicated legalese or slyly crafted wording, contracts and legal documentation can be used to push your back into a corner, duped by your own ignorance of this binding document.

Lawyered provides an online portal for everything from corporate lawyers to website agreements and policy lawyers in Delhi - and across India. We have seen our fair share of violated contracts and hidden clauses that have caused much grievance. One of our earlier articles covered how to spot these hidden charges in contracts and legal documents, but today we will take a look at the 5 sure signs of impending trouble in a contract.

If you come across any of the following hindrances in a contract, we’d suggest putting that pen down and having a legal authority give it the once over!

#1 Not Enough Talent

Very often vendors try to sign off on contracts, without actually having the required talent to complete the job. These same vendors will then outsource the task, and charge you for the extra manpower required to finish work!

It would be advisable to visit the vendor’s place of work and look at the team yourself once. Talk to past clients, go through their portfolio for a clearer picture of what they are truly capable of. We would also suggest hiring a corporate and legal documentation lawyer to take a look.

#2 Violations

If tied down by previous contractual obligations, ensure that your current contract isn’t in violation of any of the withstanding tenets of the earlier document. Similarly, any contract and legal documentation that forces you to break legal compliance or take illegal measures should be avoided!

Even signing such a document can make you complicit in the eye of the law!

#3 Price Discrepancy

You may have reached a verbal agreement during your pricing negotiations, but this may not be reflected on the legal document! Make sure you pay careful attention to any discrepancies! When confronted, vendors may claim not having printed out the correct version of the document, but on signing any such contract or legal documentation, you will be liable to pay.

#4 Not Aligned Morally

Certain practices toe that fine moral line between legality, falling in the grey area of ‘not exactly illegal’. Such practices may not fit in with the moral or ethical vision of your company. It takes strong character to turn down such deals.

#5 No Transparency

Transparent business practices are signs of an ethically and technically adept organization. If you feel like you’re being given roundabout and ambiguous answers to your concerns, further research should be conducted before signing.

Head on over to Lawyered for corporate lawyers, contract and legal documentation lawyers in Gurgaon and for free legal advice on the legitimacy of your deal.
